Its only 1.5 months left till german release. I wonder what Sure AI is doing now? Is it mostly bugfixes or something else? Did working shedule raised in tension or more relaxed now when most stuff is done? How you guys preparing for release?
They are doing bugfixing and they are under a lot of pressure right now, since release is coming and only a few of them is left working on it.
It`s crunch time for them :) From what i gathered from their occasional posts on Facebook and in this forum work load and stress level increased quite a lot, since there is only a relatively small team tackling the last tasks left behind. They are primarily bug fixing and working on some final touches and a lot of minor things that were overseen. On top of that the english version needs to be worked on. Most of the voice acting seem to be done by now, but the audio files need to be implemented which is, according to them, a very time consuming process and the translation of all the miscellaneous texts and item descriptions is yet to be finished.
Yep, that's about right. Our main tasks are the English version (both cutting and implementing all these takes and finishing touches to the English subs) and bugfixing. :)
That's great. Don't suppose you know how many months until english voiced? And one of the posters implied the team has lost members or something. Is that true? I'm sorry if so, I wonder if you guys thought about becoming a real developer. I'm sure you've been asked a thousand times.
I personally dont care if english voices will be delayed for several months but I really hope english subs will be available at german release or very shortly after. Would be a torture having to wait more time when game gonna be available already

Totally agree with you. When I played Nehrim it was a bit strange playing with the german voice but it grew on me over time and I really liked it in the end. As long as there are english subs, I'm fine with any voice acting I got to play with, since english is the only foreign language I can understand.
Haven't you improved your english while playing Nehrim in german?

Why should I? °_°
I think if you play the whole game in german, your language skills will grow :)

Mmh nope, sorry.
it was only a thought :) For example: I have improved my english while watching films and playing games since i was a child ;) i think its the best way to learn a language.

Playing game with english subs and german voiceovers doesnt give you any understanding of german. You mostly read subs to know whats going while hearing completely alien language you dont understand.

It is much different when you dont have subs and have to pay attention to every word of original source to try understand the meaning.
Yea if you play Nehrim with english subs its completly different :)

Well, I do care and so do others. I just want them to know that so they don't feel it's not important and keep kicking it down the road. I'm not looking to ungratefully hold their feet to the fire either. They're not getting paid, after all. I just want them to know the demand is still there. I know they said the english localization was close to complete on April 18 via facebook and may come on or near the same time as the german version. Is that holding up?

I do not know any detailled info, as I am only a beta tester and not a dev. But according to my experience in the German version, they should run a beta test for the English version, too. Problem is, they do not have the capacity to manage two different betas simutaneously and as a result the English version will release later anyway. I'd expect the localization to be finished in terms of recording voices of the speakers, but I do not know if or how far they have been implemented yet.
Perhaps I as the one who is responsible for ca. one third of the English version can bring a bit of light into the darkness :-)

The translation (at least my part of it) will be finished most likely during the next week (btw finished here means that everything is translated at least once, obviously I will have to QA all of that, so reread translated texts to find weird and/or illogical translations).

The dialogue is already translated, proofread and sort of implemented (I would need to explain the way how the translation works to elaborate on that part and such explanation takes much times and doesn't add anything to the current topic ^^)

I'm not sure about the current status of the books, notes and other texts, but those are being proofread right now and there shouldn't be many untranslated texts left anymore.

Most of the voices are already recorded and sent to us, cutting them is currently the second most important task, right next to bugfixing. Said cutting is going well and while we are not entirely certain about the exact timeframe it will take till it is finished we can roughly estimate it.

Still, all of this is no guarantee that everything will work as planned - so we are hesitating to reveal a release date for the english versions, sorry for that.

Actually - there won't be a real beta test for the english version. Before anyone dies with a heartache: this is mainly due to how the translation process works in Skyrim/Enderal. And yes we will test the translation as much as we can to determine how good or bad it is, where retranslations are necessary and to find missing translations.

Basically both versions are the same - they share the same master file (.esm file) and are translated by so called string files. Any bug in the german version will also be in the english one and vice versa.

On the other hand this means that one beta is enough - each fixed bug in the german version is also fixed in the english one.
Thanks for the update and your efforts thus far, Caleb. It's great to hear that the translation is progressing smoothly.
Awesome. Thanks guys for your responses.
It looks we will be able to play the english text translated on release after all! Thanks so much.
