Last night I was following Narathzul Arantheal through this dungeon. At some point, he asks you for the large crystal that you picked up at the start of the dungeon. All he did was walk into the room, ask me to give him the crystal (how???) and then walked over to one of the crystal platforms on the right and now just stands there.
The room is (MQ16Tempel03) Well, I have no idea what to do here or what the problem is. I tried dropping it through the window and later tried using telekinesis to give him the crystal. He does nothing and the door in front of me stays locked.
I ghosted the whole dungeon looking for another crystal since he says something like "I need the crystals you found." (Only one in the dungeon I saw) and finally looked at the editor. It seems he must have another crystal since we did everything 2x2. Well, either he did not activate the first crystal platform or I am going crazy. I tried everything I could think of:
A: using the crystal = no effect.
B: Dropping through window = no effect
C: Telekinesis to him = no effect.
D: Duplicating the large crystal = Have not tried.
I looked at the script for MQ16Station03, but I did not understand it.
Sadly, I lost an important save state, and all I have are the current ones right at where I am stuck; therefore, I could not repeat this room. I was so happy to get past the room with the bombs after saving Narathzul from the gas chamber - And I forgot to save before I went into this room because I timed it wrong, I guess.
I put my save state on here in case you wanted to see my problem (if it is a problem) or tell me what I am doing wrong in this room because I do not know what I am supposed to do here.

hi, you are above him on a walk way and unable to jump down to him.
At one end - near the locked door - is an open section without a grill on it.
open your inventory and 'shift + click' the large crystal to drop it onto the floor.
Close your inventory.
Then use the 'Z' key to move the crystal over the edge of the walkway and onto the floor infront of him.
He will then pick it up and open the door for you.
NOTE: I tried a few times before I realised I was dropping the wrong crystal! dur!
Hope this helps.
PS. when he first enters his room he puts his crystal on a pedistal to the right of a door in the upper left corner of the room.

I just tried dropping the crystal through the open window to him. It falls to the floor and he just stands there.
All I have are 1 large crystal, 1 teleport stone, and a bunch of soul gems plus Tarandor's quest gem. I dropped all of them plus my entire inventory into the open room he is in. He still just stands there. He doesn't move to pick anything up.
I ghosted over to him and put the crystal at his foot. That did nothing. I thought maybe it worked like the Treomar crystals needing to be placed manually on the pedestal. That did nothing.
P.S. He never put his crystal on the pedestal. It is empty.

This might seem a silly question, but did you kill the two spiders before you entered that corridor. I found after I sneaked past them had the same problem. Had to go back and kill them.
Funny you should mention that, I killed them and looted their bodies thinking they had some key I missed.
I really hate to restart from a very old save state (assault on the Sanctuary after the trip to Arktwend).
Perhaps there is a command code that will force him to move into the next room or next stage?
I tried unlocking and going through the door with the command console cheat, but nothing forced Narathzul to move on to the next area.
I will keep trying. Not sure what to do though.

Sounds dodgy
I know i had to quick save and try a couple of times.
he stands looking at you after placing the crystal he carries on the pedistal.I remember in the end i dropped the crystal over the side and he took it.
Perhaps you have to wait until he's in the room before you try to open the door. I seem to remember him saying something about the door after I'd tried it and before I dropped the crystal

This is very strange. For some reason, the game thinks you have already dropped the crystal to Narahtzul, but you don't. The corresponding script:
I have no idea how the OnTrigger could fire without actually being triggered. This could be an engine bug.
Quickest fix:
"set mq16.state to 2
setstage mq16 110"
This lets you proceed directly to the next quest. You miss one riddle and some dialogue.
Code Select all
scn MQ16TrigZone11Script
Begin OnTrigger MQ16Kristall01Ref
if ( GetStage MQ16 < 77 )
SetStage MQ16 77
endif

Well, I admit I never saw him put his crystal up first.
I dropped the thing on the floor after he asked for mine. At this point, he simply moved over to the second one and stopped. I started using the telekinesis ability on the crystal to move it closer thinking I was supposed to toss it over to him.
This is why I should not be rushing through quests at 3:00 AM.

So, wait, do I see it right that he SAID he put his crystal into the podest, but actually he didn't?
Well, I do not remember the exact dialogue. Something like "I need the crystals we've found to pass through." He didn't say how...obviously it would not have been a puzzle otherwise.
I do not remember him saying anything more than that though.
I have noticed that if I open my inventory up in the middle of dialogue I can miss stuff. Characters will have talking animation, but nothing coming out and other funky things.
It could be I opened my inventory when he was standing at his pedestal. This is probably what did it.

Oh, maybe you dropped the crystal too early. The supposed way is roughly the following one:
Arantheal says "I need the crystals we've found to pass through."
Arantheal puts his own crystal in.
Arantheal says that he needs YOUR crystal too.
You drop your crystal.
You were too quick here. This goes on the to-do list for 1.0.9. Thanks for the bug report.

I also have a similar problem. When I reach this area, Arantheal says that he needs to place the crystals on the fixtures. He then moves towards the fixture furthest from me and stands there doing nothing. He never places his own crystal there.
I tried throwing my crystal down to him, but nothing happens.

Well bizarrely enough, I just loaded my old save game from this point and it now works perfectly. I tried it twice and both times it worked. I'll still upload my save file because this is the same save file from which the bug before was generated.
Anyway, since I couldn't get past here before, I used the fixed that you provided to skip this section, so we never got the sword. In the next parts Arantheal was still fighting with his old sword, he never pulled out the Soul Flayer, could this possibly be a problem later in the game?

Not that you would agree with me, but the crystal was in a rather random place. It seemed like a last minute decision on where it was placed. Maybe you could make it a puzzle to find.
Other than that, I haven't had any major issues.
I have found some weird things though:
1: A missing ceiling texture in the dungeon under Erothin. It's near the trainers, I think. It's a spot between two wells in the ceiling.
2: There is a rock (about character height and width) near one of the Creator's shrines in Southrealm's city (I forgot the name) (2nd shrine maybe?) that you could walk through it. Kim kept disappearing on me and then I saw her head sticking out of it.
3: Prior to chasing Baranteon (spelling) to the bell tower, I came into the courtyard and saw him standing at the main gate entrance to the castle area. I do not remember the exact method of how I got into the courtyard, but I know it was odd seeing him there and yet Arantheal had me go to the throne room instead.
4: I was arrested during the first siege (using taranor's crystal) while in the kitchen area of Erothin for some minor crime. There were no guards anywhere, but this one guy did find me, lol. (Not really a bug.)
5: Massive lag in the dark forest area with the ghost rider.
6: Following that bandit guy trainer (who stole the guard's letter) during the assault into Erothin through the sewers, he got stuck behind the door leading out of the backyard. I had to disable the door and make it reappear for him to get out.
7: I enchanted an ax with a fire attack and it has a value of 0.
8: After I redeemed 2 paladins' souls, it stopped displaying the message. I killed at least 4 more without the message showing up again.
9: A large weed in the southrealm desert still has a German name.
10: Several voice recordings had a studio effect; I heard echoes.
11: Lots of the female merchants have 1 voice for barter, and another voice for quest related questions.
12: Some the small versions of monsters like imps (kobolds), have that spaghetti-like stretched out look when I kill them.
Overall, I like what I have seen and amazed at some of the stuff.
My favorites:
1: The theater
2: The Khazad dum (dwemer) dungeon.
3: Treomar
4: Running from that first big troll in the very beginning.
5: Crossing the main bridge into Erothin
6: The Tyreal skeleton in Mortram (I'm a fan of Diablo 2).
7: The dungeon music with the drums (it was playing right when I had just fought the cave troll area in the dwemer dungeon).
8: Oddly, I loved the spider dungeon - I think it had destruction armor or something in it.

Thanks a lot for the detailed reports!
We know of 3, 5, 6 and 11 but cannot fix them. (5 is in the readme, with an instruction how to avoid this lag.) Who was "this one guy" in 4?
