I could use some help, every time I click on New Game from the main menu the "Start New Game?" box shows up and when I click yes the box closes and then nothing happens. No matter how many times I keep telling it to start a new game absolutely nothing happens after I click yes in that box. It's been a long, long, LONG time since I booted up any form of Oblivion and I did an install of Oblivion specifically to replay Nehrim and I find myself wondering if there are any must use fixes for Oblivion I missed while getting Nehrim set up.

EDIT: Ok in order to prevent the eventual "Can you start a new game in Oblivion?" question I just did so and met with no problems. I have also checked and all my Nehrim data files are checked.

You need the latest Oblivion patch: 1.2.0416

Are you running Win Vista or 7 and did you install to a directory that's protected by UAC (e. g. "C:\Program Files", "C:\Program Files (x86)")? If so, you need to install to a different directory.

It might also be a problem related to the Oblivion.ini file. Open the Nehrim Launcher and go to Settings/Extra. Under "Location of the ini directory", check "Nehrim directory". Click the buttons "Reset Changes (create new INI)" and "Accept". If necessary, check your Data Files (Nehrim.esm, NehrimData.esp and NehrimEnglish.esp) again and start Nehrim.

You were right, it was the .ini. In my haste to get back to playing Nehrim I forgot to start the Oblivion launcher to create an .ini. After that it still wouldn't load for some reason but after wiping the old one, getting a new one made again then making my graphical changes in the Nehrim launcher instead of the .ini itself or Oblivion's launcher it started working properly.

Well, okay, I don't know how to proceed with this.

I have the same problem; Nehrim's intro screen starts up, but when I click "New Game", it just blinks the cursor for a moment and leaves me on that screen. I cannot begin a game.

I tried all the things that Tarathiel mentioned, but it makes no difference.

I carefully followed all the instructions that Holomay suggested, but it makes no difference.

What else can I try, to make this run?

My System:
Windows 7 64bit
Oblivion patch 1.0.0416
Install directory: e:\games\nehrim

You'll need the latest patch (1.2.0416) for both Oblivion and Shivering Isles (if installed). Also make sure that only the Nehrim files are checked in the game's launcher.

Okay, I see what was wrong... I was resetting all the Data files, but I didn't click "Accept" (it looked greyed out), so of course nothing was actually changing!
