I am doing the quest where you are trapped at the mine, and have to block the rats nests, I have filled 2 out of the 3 holes, but am missing an oblong stone, I have looked for about 30 minutes all over for this oblong stone, and I have come to the conclusion that somehow I got it stuck or lost it. I was wondering if anyone knew a console command to either set the quest a stage ahead (I don't know the ID's for the quest, I think they might be in German?), or to spawn an oblong brick.

Check around again, or start the quest over.

I have thoroughly checked around, the oblong stone is gone somehow.
How would I "restart" the quest?

as i recall there are 2 small stones and a larger one. maybe you saw only the smaller ones and over looked the bigger one? i know i had a little trouble finding the last one, and getting it into the hole.

The stones are placed quite close to the holes they should fit in.
When I did the quest for the first time I also spend some time figuring out and even tried to find more holes in other rooms
But take a closer look at the very room that the rats are in.


Restart the quest- load from a previous save I guess.

I'll give it another look but I think what happened was I somehow shoved the oblong stone into the large stones hole, and now its stuck in there, so its effectively lost. No earlier saves :/

The long stone is stuck behind the large one? Im surprised thats even possible.
Maybe someone can give you the console code to insert another long stone in the game, i dont see any other option than that and restarting the game.

Not to pick on you at all Aalsper but I am truly curious why it is that people do not make frequent saves? I really am curious. What is the mindset? That frequent saving ruins the immersion?

You know how many saves I have? Over 1000. That's over one thousand. Now, granted, I have played the entire game through twice and I have deleted large sections of them but still... I bet I had at least 5 hard saves before I even reached the rats & stones quest. I usually average probably 10 hard saves a player character level. More for the higher levels because more time passes before leveling up. And I am not saying any of this as a way to "brag" either. For all I know I could be viewed as an absolute freak for making so many saves...lol.

I doubt it can be stuck there. If you really received a message that it is stuck, then it was in the right hole.

Is it possible that 1 stone fell through the floor if its missing?

I haven't saved many times, because I havent moved my oblivion saves yet, there are about 500 of them, and I figured that I would just keep 1 or 2 Nehrim saves to keep things organized for now. I will be making another folder for my oblivion saves, and I will save often from now on

Whether the stone fell through the floor, which was my first thought, or is stuck somewhere, or who knows maybe it just never spawned, it isn't there. I have checked thoroughly. I am hoping someone could give me the command to spawn another stone, or tell me the questID so I can use the setstage command to skip this part of the quest. Thanks!

I've found the stone after using tcl to search around outside the map. It is stuck behind the medium stone, just as I thought. Any tips on how to get it out?

Unless you manage to pull it through the wall with tcl enabled, i have to other idea.

How would I get tcl to affect the stone?
I can target it in console to get its ID?

I'm afraid I can't help you, but I do read about your problem and only one thing comes to my mind:P
It's been unsolved for a while now and my impression is that it would be much easier/faster to simply start again.
Luckily, such a problem occured at the beginning of the game, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

PS. I really recommend saving, as I sometmes happen to have 'corrupted' quicksaves... The same used to happen in Oblivion.

I finally managed to get the stone free

I had to tcl myself into the little cave where it was stuck and after about 5 minutes of stone adjusting I finally managed to pull it out. I'm having a great time exploring the gameworld, I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else!

Nice to hear that my suggestion worked. If you need help again, just come back. Or simply stay ;p
Bugs like that unfortunately cant be avoided, its the stupid engine thats messed up.

hi all.new here.issue i am having is how do you move the stones to block the rat holes?i can see the stones but when i try to activate them it is telling me that they are too big (or heavy or something) to take with me or move.is my strength not high enough yet for this?thanks

you use the grab command to move the rocks into position. default key is "z".
