Installer Can't Connect?
Post by Deleted User 24333 »
Hey! Been trying to install for a few days now but I'm running into an issue where the installer seems to not be able to connect. I've tried turning off and white-listing with both my firewall and antivirus/Windows Defender but the installer still can't seem to find a connection; I can install/have installed the main game files with no problems, but I can't get the updates installed to be able to play -- the installer continues to list 'no server connections possible' & even the banner that's supposed to be at the bottom of the launcher doesn't load in.

I'll go ahead and attach the launcher's log, and a cap of the launcher itself.

After doing some digging around on the web and on the forums here, I've also installed a clean Skyrim, tried the troubleshooting console command, and made sure I'm not running a proxy... but nothing's worked, and at this point I'm totally stumped! Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to the forum!
Do you mean this console command (from the Launcher Debugging section of the detailed guide)?

- Press [WIN] + [R] to open up run dialog box.
- Type in cmd.exe and confirm with [ENTER].
- Then type the following: netsh winsock reset and confirm with [ENTER].
-Restart your PC.
- Start the launcher as admin and try to download the patches again.

Have you run the Launcher also as Admin?

You can also try to temporarily disable Windows Defender for the update. Sometimes he has caused problems.

Thank you!

Yes that's exactly the command I meant!
I have indeed run the launcher as admin each time. I noticed write errors in the log files yesterday too, and so I've moved all of Steam out of the x86 folder ( and reinstalled everything ) which seems to have remedied the write error issue at least, but I'm still not getting a server connection.

Tried disabling Windows Defender and Firewall just now with no luck.
can you restart the router?
(out of ideas as well, only guessing :( )

(did you run cmd.exe as admin?)
The error that is logged in the lauchner.log is nothing we can fix, it's a user side problem. Have you tried disabling and then enabling the offline mode in the launcher's update area? It will try to connect to another domain. Make sure the launcher is whitelisted in every security system that you have on your PC. Port 80 must be free to use.

Restarting the router didn't seem to help, however.
( Prior to seeing Stuemper's reply - oops! Should've checked here first  ) I tried running the launcher with a VPN going and for whatever reason that seems to have done the trick for the connection.

Installing patch 2/6 as we speak! Aaa I'm super excited to be able to play!
Thanks so much for the help guys!
awesome
have fun, then :)
