Ok, I think I really failed my Nehrim install. As soon as I ran the exe, my entire computer screen (in the background) went black. I completed the install before I realized this happened. I tried to restart my computer, but had to power it down manually. Turned it back on, but still an all black screen. I have no access to my computer at this point... Not even a mouse, Ha ha. But seriously, any thoughts?
oh. well shit, that's a new one
(but welcome to the forum anyways)
do you have access to your keyboard?
edit:
are you running on Win10?
could it have updatet in the background at that time?
edit No2:
looked trough some stuff, you could try the following:
try to get into safe mode via F8 or Shift + F8 (before Win boots up)
maybe you find any issues
hope something of that helps

If you are using a laptop, try the trick below which may work like a charm for you. If not, skip this solution.
Shut down your PC. Remove the battery, press and hold the power button for 60 seconds. Put the battery back in and start your PC again.
-Update Drivers through Device Manager (won't work if you don't have keyboard access)
Follow these steps:
1. Press Win+R (Windows logo key and R key) at the same time. A Run dialog box will open.
2. Type devmgmt.msc in the run box and click OK button.
3. Under Display adapters, right-click on one video card. Click Update Driver Software… on the context menu.
4. Select Search automatically for updated driver software. Then Windows will install the new driver automatically.
If you have more than one graphics card installed, repeat the steps to update the driver for each of them.
The solution: The workaround is surprisingly simple. Before starting the PC, the HDMI cable needs to be pulled out! Once logged in, the cable can be reconnected.

Thank you for the welcome and the quick response:) Yeah, I looked around the forums before posting this topic. Running win10, nothing on screen at all. So unsure if the keyboard is working. I use a modern Lenovo laptop for gaming at the moment. All I can say is I didn't exactly follow the instructions to the letter. I did join the elite group of 'readme' readers however. (I read the readme) I also have a heavily modded TESIV file, and was afraid of it being overwritten or messed up in some way, due to the auto find feature of the installer. So, I made a 'Nehrim' file with a fresh TESIV install. (C:/Games/Nehrim) And then I unzipped the Nehrim file directly into it. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Then I ran the exe...
Edit: I'll try your suggestions. I am using the anthology edition btw.

I seriously doubt that you coul fuck up a Nehrim intallation that hard.
Nehrim wouldn't run, it would decidedly not kill Windows.
(or maybe it would. you'll never stop learning.
)
where did you get the install - file?
this site is safe, but with third-party you'll never know - maybe a virus

Directly from this site. It was most likely my own fault.
I want to preface the following by saying that I have no idea how hardware in general
and Laptops in particular work.
do you have access to a second screen?
that might help.
the most likely issue (I can see right now)
would be that, for whatever reason, your graphic card's driver and
something Nehrim tried to install (?) clashed. no idea what that would be.
(have you tried some of the listed stuff yet? any progress

I can hardly imagine that the problem directly has something to do with Nehrim.
If it is a hardware defect we can do nothing here.
I suspect more of a driver problem.
Can you open the bios? Reset to basic settings?
Can you reinstall or repair Windows? From DVD or stick?

Ok. My screen magically fixed itself! But now, I did a fresh install and the game crashes immediately.
well, the first one is awesome to hear
and crashes can be solved easier -
- did you follow the install instructions?
- you mentioned the anthology edition - is that Steam or retail?
that's a retail version, yes?
- when starting the first time use the launcher and
make sure there is nothing enabled besides Nehrim.esm and NehrimData.esp (no Oblivion Addons!)
(the german menu says "Spieldateien" - "Gamefiles"maybe, if it's translated?)

I believe I followed the instructions correctly. I even deleted my afore mentioned modded TESIV file. (It needed redone anyway) The Anthology edition is a box set for pc with TES 1-5, all official patches included. So no oblivion add ons would include SI and KotN DLC's?
