If I buy and read a number of entropy skill books...boosting my entropy skill level to 26, for instance...how will that effect my ability to summon a Frost elemental, as an example or use other entropy talents?

The spells should cost less mana the more skill points you have in a certain magic school.

Well, as I've said it already: fill it up with content yourself. Nothing comes from nothing. We've got really no time for that at the moment.

I know you think that advising me to write my own Wiki entry is helpful (I'm sure it is at least an easy response). I find it dismissive, however.

I wouldn't be here asking questions if I had the answers. And if people (many, or so it seems) on this forum don't have enough information (or the desire) to offer an answer, what is this forum for?

Beyond that, I seriously doubt that anyone would appreciate me writing a Wiki entry that is just as clueless.

I can only ask people for help, if they want to or don't want to .. that's their business.

If everyone thinks that someone else will eventually fill the wiki, it will be empty until we've got time.
And you certainly got some experience with Enderal, so no doubt you would know something that isn't noted in the wiki

Is that all? No increased ability to summon higher tier elementals or other creatures? Just less mana required?

You'll find higher tier spells in the world or you can buy them from merchants. Those spells cost more mana. So there is no reason why the skill should also allow you to summon stronger elementals
