Thanks. Did all that (to the letter) and it produced the same result. Only thing I wasn't sure was whether I was supposed to "archive" and then "restore" or just delete and then reinstall. I chose the latter because I didn't want to lose my savegames, but perhaps that's unavoidable (I hope not).

A complete uninstall (not archiving!) and reinstall with the new launcher should solve the problem. Maybe take a new installation package for the installation. Your Savegames won't be touched by the launcher. They stay in the Savegame directory: documents\my games\Skyrim\saves

Could you attach your current LauncherLog if it's still not working? Thanks.
