So I am currently in the quest "Part of something momentous part IV". Lishari is already dead and I am now waiting for Archmagister Merrâyil to give me his notes. The quest is stuck at this point however. When I try to speak to him the only dialogue options are about where he's from and a progress report on the Beacon. I've already tried sleeping, doing a few side-quests and even just standing around doing nothing in-game. None of this has helped and I'm still stuck at "Wait until Archmagister Merrâyil has prepared the documents".

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Or even if I'm just stupid and doing something wrong?

Cheers,

I have this exact same problem. Several in-game days have passed since I got to this stage of the quest and I have not received a quest update, nor does Merrayil progress the quest when I talk to him. How much time is supposed to pass before the quest updates?

UPDATE AND POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
I suspect that progressing this stage of the quest is tied to the number of hours SLEPT not number of hours PASSED. When I originally got this quest, I went off and explored several areas and completed many side quests during which several days had passed in-game. Despite having gone roughly 4 or more days in-game time, the quest did not progress. However, my character also didn't sleep much during this time. Oh a hunch I put my character to sleep for about 18 hours and when he woke I got a quest notification to pick up the documents from Merrayil.

So to test this I loaded a save from just after receiving part IV of this quest. I immediately put my character to sleep for 24 hours and when he woke the quest progressed. Because of this, I think to progress past this part of the quest, your character has to sleep a certain number of hours.
Hmm I'll try that out. But the weird thing is that the first thing I did when I got the quest is sleep for 24 hours, and the quest did not progress. But I believe that was on a previous version of Enderal. So I'll try it again on the currently installed version and then report back if it worked or not.

UPDATE:
Well, I tried sleeping again for 19 hours, and it worked! So if the quest doesn't progress, sleeping one ore more times probably solves the problem. I'll mark this topic as solved for others with this problem.
