This probably really simple, but I am stuck in the skill tree area, where you spend memory points, and cannot figure out how to leave.

You have to select your meditation talent by opening the spell menu with the key [P] and simply click on meditate. Then use the key [Z] or [Y] (depends on differnt keyboards in different countries) which you used for dragon shouts in Skyrim. These shouts were replaced by so called talents. And "meditate" is one of them

I had a hard time accessing the screen where you use your memory points and now I am stuck in this screen and cannot return to the game. I have used "P" and "Z" and cannot return to the game

Could be buggy. Try to set meditation as favorit with the key [F]. Then use it from the quick menu.
