I'm getting a gray/brownish haze on my screen in Fold Valley, even towards/in Giliad and somewhat west, I believe. Is this normal for the area? And more importantly does it go away after a while?

I think it is just the weather effects, sometimes rain, sometimes fog.

The fog in Fold Valley is quite normal, and it will alternate with other kinds of weather. Have a look at St. One's Let's Play - Nehrim #011 - looks quite similar to the fog on your screenshot, doesn't it?
