Ok, I've spent an hour looking around the internet and at forum threads here already and so I'm pretty sure I know what answer I'm going to get. Something like "We do not support no CD cracks. Go buy the game." But I really want to play Nehrim so I figured it was worth a shot. Here it goes:
So my sister purchased Oblivion GOTY Edition a few years ago. As I normally enjoy RPGs I watched her play for a while but Oblivion just didn't appeal to me for some reason. Now that I have discovered Nehrim, I really want to play it. The changes sound amazing and I've watched some gameplay online. Unfortunately, my sister has long since beaten Oblivion and no longer knows where her disc is. Now I have two options. 1. Find out that Nehrim can be played with no CD and start playing it (probably won't happen, but maybe someone here will know how). 2. Become convinced that Nehrim is worth $30. I absolutely will NOT play Oblivion so if I buy the game it will be solely for Nehrim. So I'm asking everyone now, is Nehrim worth $30? I'd honestly rather donate to SureAI than Bethesda since the only reason I'm even considering buying Oblivion is for Nehrim, but unfortunately that doesn't seem like it will be the case.
Thanks in advance.

$30 for Oblivion? That's expensive! Some weeks ago I saw it in a german supermarket for 5€ = ~$8. On amazon.com it costs $14,99. But, Nehrim is also $30 worth!
I think that Nehrim is priceless. IM no HO. Definitely!
You can't really play Nehrim without the Oblivion CD (unless you are a pirate...). Nehrim not only uses Oblivion's engine, but also some of its meshes, textures and sounds, and they are not included in Nehrim's installer.
Actually, no-cd cracks do work (I used to scratch disks, so I use no-cd cracks for my non-digital games) but from the couple of hours I've played Nehrim, I think it's completely worth it. Although I only paid €20 for Oblivion back in '06, so I recommend looking for a better deal.
no need for the crack just make a disc image and run that through something like deamon tools or a similar program and you can play it without the disc int he drive and it saves your discs from getting beat up when you play the games for hours at a time.
First you can get Oblivion for about 10$ and second yes it is even worth 30$.
You forgot that some people actually bought the official Oblivion game as a direct download, without ever having a CD. I'm not going to buy Oblivion AGAIN just to play nehrim since I've bought it once already (the GOTY version for £19.99).
If you just *lost* your copy, try to find another one (ask some friends, probably), enable displaying hidden files in the windows explorer, copy the entire oblivion disc onto your HDD and then write it on an epty dvd. Then you have a fine working copy
(I did this because my dvd was scratched pretty badly, and I didn't want to by a new one).
But if you prefer to stay entirely legal, you really should buy Oblivion. If you can get your hands on the GOTY-Edition, Shivering Isles and KoTN (the two addons) are also included. Especially SI is an exellent piece of software, almost as good as Nehrim (and way better than Oblivion).
