Where do I get the Memory Alteration spell from.......I've gone all the way to the main city, waited for the guy to start praying at the grave side and when i've gone into my spell inventory there is no Memory Alteration spell there........should I have bought it before I left the sanctuary?

You should have got this spell from General Acorias in Arcane Sanctum when he gives you the qyest (http://nehrim.wikia.com/wiki/Spells#Que ... ted_Spells)
You don't buy the spell, he should have taught you the spell. Are you sure you don't have the spell? Have you checked the first section of the spells (where they are listed in alphabetical order?)

I must have ended the conversation before he taught me the spell, the quest marker set.
I went back to the guys and restarted the conversation and he taught me the spell.
