I just started Chapter II. How do I enchant armor?

Unenchanted Armor can get a single enchantment by using gems with stat enchantments on them(not stuff like Fire Ruby which gives fire damage). But its not a particularly big enchantment, specific magic items are usually far superior to enchanting your own.

is there a merchant who i can sell my unnecessary gems to? i have a bunch of them. or i have to be highly skilled in mercantile to do that?

Unless you find a merchant that also sells those stones, you need to have 50 Mercantile to sell them to any vendor.

thx! i asked because i travelled through fold valley but so far i haven't found any merchant of gems. however, my mercantile skill is not 50.

There are no "unnecessary gems".

Unnecessary meaning unneeded i guess, tho i also would say there are useless gems, and a few with a little use.

My point is that

you can use them to enchant some weapons/armor, and sell the latter for a multiple of its original price (and, of course, far more than the original price of the gems).

I just lazy NPCed them, maybe i do that next time too :p
