Can't save
Post by Giggles »
Nehrim runs fine, all my stuff is patched etc. The only problem is that my saved games do not show up under the load screen or the saves screen. I've been using quicksave and autosave only. When I try to make a "New Save" it says "Save Successful."
Are they going into the wrong folder or something?

I don't know if this helps but, I had old saves from Oblivion show up in the load screen for Nehrim. I deleted them all so now it's just the autosave and loadsave.

Edit: Also, this is a non-steam version. Windows XP

Hi.

First make sure the only data modules ticked within Nehrim launcher are Nehrim Data, Nehrim English, Nehrim.esm and any mods that have been swapped to work for Nehrim.

Suggest you go into game and make a few saves, so you could have save 01,02,03 as well as autosave. Then check to see if they have gone to the correct save folder.

What is the pathway for the saved games? MyDocuments>MyGames>Oblivion>Saves? I saved three times as suggested and they are not there. The only things in my saves folder is autosave.bak, autosave.ess, quicksave.bak, and quicksave.ess

It could be that I did not install it right. I read the ReadMe notes, and one thing I did not do was copy the Nehrim folder into the Oblivion folder. I've been playing only through the Nehrim folder. Eventually I did copy the folder into Oblivion, and ran the game thru the Oblivion folder, but it's no different. The only thing I see differently is in the data files, it included the original Oblivion .esp and .esm while the Nehrim folder only included Nehrim.esm, NehrimData.esp and NehrimEnglish.esp

I hope that made sense. Thanks in advance for any help

Hi.
copy the Nehrim folder into the Oblivion folder
No. When you install, Nehrim copies Oblivion files to its Nehrim Folder. Nehrim should be in its own folder.

Try a complete reinstall of Nehrim.
Uninstall. Delete ini file in My Documents. Reinstall to something like c:\Nehrim.
Run Nehrim Launcher, make sure correct boxes are ticked. Start. Nehrim will create a new ini.

Like to know if it works for you.

I guess my case is unique because I had installed the steam version at first. But I ran into problems running Nehrim with that version. So I uninstalled it and then installed Oblivion from discs. I am assuming that uninstalling the steam version never wiped the saves, and so that is what was messing with the save path.

I ended up deleting the Oblivion folder in the steamapps>common and then reinstalled Oblivion from the disc and then installed Nehrim. It works perfectly now. Thanks for the help Hawk.

Did you ever get any usable answer on this? I have the same problem.

What happens if you type
save blah
into the console. Do you get a new savegame called blah.ess, or not?

Arktwend:

Your suggestion is great :D , I turn my computer off at night and the next day the tilde will work w/o entering the CODE:SELECT. Blah.ess saved so I tried using my own names such as "save mine2", "save lostcirillo," etc.. They all would come up the next time I played. Incidentally, do I have to go back and find Cirillo? I hope others who have this prob, read your post.

Another problem is the lack of light.

Someone said to copy over the Texture file in Oblivion and merge with Nehrim\Data\Texture file and not to overwrite any files. I am unable to do this, it wants to overwrite the entire Nehrim Texture file, so I didn't so I'm still in the dark.

Also, the readme said "All files that have anything to do with Oblivion must be disabled or the game will crash." On the Olivion cd, I remove from the Data Files the box check on Oblivion, but the next time I play it comes back and I don't seem to have a problem.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

I don't think you have to find Celebro. Anyway you soon will see.

I think I see what is going on. For some reason, Nehrim doesn't get the writing rights in your "My Documents" folder where Oblivion saves its settings and its saves. This must be fixed, otherwise the box will come back and back again and sooner or later you will get bugs.
Is your Oblivion installed from a different Windows user account than you are using to play? Oblivion is a 2006 game, which means it doesn't integrate well with Windows UAC...

I only have one user account; I am the only one using this computer. I also have to always check the Nehrim Launcher Data Files because sometimes the boxes are unchecked. I am playing from the original Oblivion cd.
