How on earth do I defeat Malphas...?! I'm supposed to 'take a closer look at the power source for the healing wells', but I cannot interact with any of their parts, despite nearly maxed acrobatics I cannot reach the floating 'sigil' stone, and Malphas just keeps regenerating. I am AT MY WIT'S END

Also why do all the Light-Born focus ON ME when I am hidden in the far crannies and it ISN'T ME THAT IS WACKING THEM WITH A BIG HONKING SWORD SERIOUSLY, JUST GET THE AETERNA HE'S YOUR PROBLEM, GUYS

found energy stones hidden inside barrels under the ground... IMPOSSIBLE to obtain through other means.

I understand your frustration but it is not impossible. Just very irritating and difficult, I agree. I couldn't figure it out either at first but eventually I did. Here's what I did...

I just took my time and absorbed the abuse - the problem, and it is a very irritating one, is that you have to find the perfect spot on the "regeneration wells" in order to activate them and get the stones. IIRC, I got as close as I could to each well and slowly moved the cursor over the top of each well and eventually I found the right spot. It really is a bug. It shouldn't be that difficult and I am positive that the game authors didn't intend it to be so irritating. It's like trying to harvest wisp stalks... you have to get your crosshair in a perfect position before you can harvest.
It's an engine bug. Objects that have been moved by a script (such as the regeneration wells - they have been moved upwards by setpos z when Malphas appeared) are hard to activate. Unfortunately all fixes I have been trying (and I've messed with that quest quite a while) had even worse flaws...

Well that explains it. I knew it wasn't meant to be that difficult. It has to be irritating for you too, trying to fix something that is nearly impossible to fix.

i found out an easy way to do it, all i had to do was stand right on top of the wells and look down and it works, well for me anyway, some try this and get back to me on it. best of luck to the person trying to fix this.
