I got the almanac for the frost sphere. and opened it .. a message appeared and i clicked the second option since i had no LP. now when i open the book again. the menu wont open? any ideas

While the spell is nice, it also costs an arcane stone each time you cast it. It's best use is as a time bomb you drop behind you as you flee. It'll slow up the enemy. I'd say that it isn't a vital spell though. If arcane stones were as plentiful as Welkynd stones, it would be a brutal loss. Unforunately, Nehrim's itty-bitty dungeons are lucky to have 2 or 3 even if it's a ruin. The bigger dungeons "might" have 6. I'm not that far in the game though, they might become much more plentiful. Of course, you can buy Arcane Stones and they're not real rare. If you haven't advanced a whole lot, you might want to rollback till before you finished that dungeon and get some LP.

I have reasons to believe that this bug will be fixed next release. Actually it was already fixed in the German Nehrim IIRC, but the translation was based upon an older script version. The next English patch is going to be based on the newest scripts.

Good news, arvisrend! Is there an ETA for this patch and do patches require a restart? Enquiring minds wish to know

Patches for the German version don't require a restart. As for the English patch, I honestly don't know... Maybe some script states will go back to 0 when you reload with the new patch. But I hope not...
We don't have an ETA. We are not sure yet about some balancing changes.
