I own Skyrim SE on the Microsoft game store but it still prompts me to go to steam when loading Enderal.

For the Steam version of Enderal-ForgottenStories you need the Skyrim-version on Steam!
Whether there are other options for you, such as the Enderal-ForgottenStories-SE version from NexusMods,
but I think that this will not be possible.
I can not answer, because this is not from SureAI, but a fan work.
We only use the Steam version.
