Just to be awkward :P , I still think this is a better first line for the top section
Two years after the events of Nehrim - At Fate's Edge, a completely new adventure awaits you in Enderal.
Nothing awkward, this line is good.

The beauty of English grammar is the flexibility and creativity inherent to it. As you say, there is ‘basic grammar’, but from there, you can go into linguistics and different complexities. Which we will not do here. In order to be sure once and for all, I decided to find out which expression is the correct one: ‘much more is’ or ‘much more are’. The results were not what I expected. You see, according to the corpora of English (you can find them here https://corpus.byu.edu/ and I looked at all of them), both versions are valid. Depending on the register, sometimes one or the other is preferred, but overall, both of them perfectly acceptable. It seems we are both right and it is only a question of preference. ;)

I do agree with that, good catch. I focussed too much on only one thing! Thanks! ;=)

I have taken a look at all the covers posted here, and here are my edits of them. You can take them or leave them! ;) I restructured the text in some places, I hope that is all right. The edits will be under a cut.

For thousands of years, the God Malphas was our paragon, our idol, our destiny. When Malphas died, we lost the meaning of our lives and the brilliance of his reign. Still, we replaced him – with something deeper, something that we will fight for. Malphas’ death was kept secret, in order to keep the peace in Enderal – but at a great risk that the truth may become known.

Tealor Arantheal, our old commander, is back. The Order of Mages – an organisation founded by his son Narathul Arantheal with the goal of fighting the Gods – has come here with him. Men like Narathul Arantheal will always exist. They are at the mercy of their emotions: insecure, weak, willing to believe every lie and ruse, solely out of fear that it might be true. Tealor is different. He is the epitome of self-control and wisdom, and his generosity with his enemies seems to pay off: Crush your enemies by turning them into allies…

Tealor came to Enderal, to the millennia-old centre of power and powerlessness, without an army, not seeking power, but offering a vision… He speaks of a pattern that we do not yet fully understand, a pattern of destructive evolution. An entire civilisation has disappeared without a trace, leaving behind no sign of war or destruction.

But we do know about it. We are an alliance made of old enemies. And we can invest all of our knowledge and wisdom into the future instead of wasting them on being enemies. We will fight, and we will give this fight our all. For our newly found freedom cannot be allowed to perish in vain. Today, paladins, we will achieve salvation and redemption that Gods and Fate denied us.

You would be correct if the sentence began with "Much more," but it does not begin there. You continue to ignore the first half of the subject of the sentence "100 hours (of) gameplay and". Your argument is that the first half of a compound subject can be totally ignored. So following your logic, it would be correct grammar to write "John and Jerry is eating pie" because it is proper to write "Jerry is eating pie" and one can just ignore the words "John and" when selecting the proper form of the verb.

Actually, I did not say that, nor am I ignoring the first part of the compound. Rather, my argument runs along the lines of 'much more' being a specific quantifier for uncountable nouns that sums up the previous information and could override it, in this specific case (though according to corpora that is down to preference). But - I rest my case.
could override it
:dumb:

Well, since this is a fantasy game, you might as well indulge your fantasies about English grammar.
Please, please....come on !!

Can the pair of you please stop being so picky on the English language and grammar.

Hell I thought the idea was to HELP with this and not dissolve into an overly picky argument of HOW UK grammar works and which of you is the "correct" expert.

Unless either of you are a full time working English grammer specialist, can we please knock this petty back and forth nitpicking on the head. I don't think that SureAI are trying to pass a university advanced grammar course, they are trying to get a readable cover for the English reading parts of the world, a lot of which aren't even native English speakers, so arguing over such anal points and trying to score insults on each other is both a waste of time and a waste of your intelligence.

I'm not an expert, I've just been using UK English for 51 years as I'm British born and bred and native.
pass a university advanced grammar course, they are trying to get a readable cover for the English reading parts of the world, a lot of which aren't even native English speakers, so arguing over such anal points
Indirectly, you make my point. The issue is not university advanced grammar, it is extremely basic grammar, the type you learn in your first few years in school, certainly by the age of 10. Basic sentence structure: single subject, single verb, plural subject, plural verb. This is not overridden by pages and pages of convoluted arguments.

As you point out, some of the people reading the cover are not native speakers of English, and when they studied English, no doubt one of the things they are taught early on is the agreement between subject and verb. So if someone who is just learning English reads the "cover", one should endeavor to use proper grammar so that they are not misled or confused about what they have learned. English is confusing enough without violating the most elementary and basic rules of grammar. I hardly feel that doing so is "anal." By the way, let me complement you on your splendid vocabulary. And thank you for enlightening me; I had no idea that people in the UK consider basic grammar to be anal.
Well as you're determined to twist anything to insult the other person, as in with your use of anal, it's pointless to continue to argue. Enjoy yourself, I cannot be bothered.
@Jaknet

I was done after I said that I rest my case, exactly for the reasons you mentioned. You are right, it was not the right place nor was it necessary to be so nitpicky. Consider me properly chastised!
jeez, people

I didn't follow this thread to closely,
but Jaknet is absolutely right, this is getting absurd.

you both realize that Celestis posted this because he doesn't speak english, yes?
he..
probably throws this thread through the google translator or something to vaguely follow it.
I wouldn't blame him if he gave up :|

(also, badgesareus, we don't mind polite discussions, but please stop it with the insults :/ )

(I edited lusine's post, since I'm pretty sure
that Celestis won't pick apart this thread and decide which version is actually right.
he'd probably like a shiny copy paste)

edit auf deutsch für Celestis
der Link geht auf auf eine copy/paste freundliche Version :)
also, badgesareus, we don't mind polite discussions, but please stop it with the insults
So you think it is perfectly OK to use the word "anal" in describing a discussion point? That is not an insult? I was not the first one to use it. Perhaps you might endeavor to be a bit more balanced in your critiques.

I should also like to point out that when the English version of Enderal was released, one or more SureAI team members (Nick? Caleb? I don't remember who exactly) specifically requested in this forum that corrections to the English grammar be offered. If such corrections are no longer of interest to SureAI, please let me know, so I will not spend any more of my time offering them.

- as you probably noticed, I'm not a native speaker.
dict.cc shows me about "anal" in this context just stuff I'd translate as "nitpicky" or "pedantic"
(and doesn't mark them as offensive),
nothing I would percieve as insulting (I'm german though, we are pedantic :P).
you're saying I'm wrong and I believe you.
sorry about that.

- I'm just a moderator, my word doesn't overwrite dev's.
please do offer corrections.

but also, please take a step back and look at the last two pages.
this thread declined to barely more than (sorry) a "pissing contest".
this is my final answer to that, feel free to pm me.
I'm not willing to let this thread derail any further :)
To get this back on topic, I'll shortly post my version / versions of the cover text.

Please DO NOT pick my post apart... If you have a different opinion, then simply post your version of the text and leave it to SureAI to decide what they want. I'm not going to discuss or comment on any other person's version of the cover text as that's not the point of this thread. :)
Moral of the story: Do not rely on Google Translator for anything except for private use. If one cannot be a fluent and accurate writer in another language, then find someone who is and not use Google Translator.
I've kept as close as possible to the text in the image of the cover for this version.

The German version of the cover by Celestis states:
"Über 100 Stunden Spielzeit und vieles mehr erwarten en euch."
"Erwarten" is the third person plural of the verb. The third person plural form of the English verb "to await" is "await". Obviously Celestis wrote this using correct German grammar, I should think it is desirable to translate it as originally written using correct English grammar -- "Over 100 hours of gametime and much more await you."

@urst give up? NO, because I see it that way, if I start something, I'll do it alas ^^ at least as good as I can
I try very hard to enrich the community with extres like DVD Covers + Lable - OST CD Covers as well as World-
maps (posters), but being insulted is not right. Ok that was not different in the German area. Nevertheless,
I have finished the Enderal BNE cover / quadrology cover + Lable: D Many have thanked downloaded and also
determined printed :)

It is a fine thing for many that there is, because many print it out to have an eyecatcher on the shelf. Better a
game with a shell than just a file on the hard drive.

Will copy the text and upload the cover tomorrow :)
So the Enderal + DLC DVD cover is ready and will not create any more.
