Re: Video tab crashes Jump to post
That should never ever result in an unhandled exception. It should give me a prompt saying "no flash player detected, please install one" (ideally with a link to where I can get one), instead it throws unhandled exceptions.

Also, define a "flash player"?
I have MPC-HC which plays flash, I have the ...

Video tab crashes Jump to post
I just upgraded to v1.1.1.1, looked at readme and saw mention of video tab. I went to check it out and I got the following error:

http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y325/taltamir/NehrimVideosCrash.png

If I click through I actually see the video tab, in which case click on videos throws ...

Re: So, what exactly goes wrong with the installation and UAC? Jump to post
your computer being extremely fast doesn't matter, only the HDD speed matters. And HDD are really, really slow.
Unless you have a blazing fast SSD it just takes time, over 30 minutes is normal for a modern game.

Try just walking away for 10 minutes when you see it, rather then just terminating the ...

Re: So, what exactly goes wrong with the installation and UAC? Jump to post
S0NofaGUN: There is a question (6) now, for you ;)

EDIT: taltamir: The two files you mentioned are written by the installer, NOT copied from the Oblivion folder, so no need to do anything manually here.

interesting. they are completely identical to the original and could be copied from it to ...

Re: So, what exactly goes wrong with the installation and UAC? Jump to post
I believe he missed two files.
"Data\Textures\Effects\TerrainNoise.dds" - verified via hashcalc to be same file
"Data\Shaders\shaderpackage001.sdp" - verified via hashcalc to be the same file

Some files are found in both but are different (I verified their hash is different, that means its new ...

Re: broken mod, in so many ways Jump to post
broadly speaking, oblivion mods would just not work nehrim.
Nehrim itself contains modifications to most of the content anyways, textures are new, leveling is XP based, and many other changes.

PS. OP, is your oblivion version v1.2.0416 ?
Can you try reinstalling oblivion (you don't have to delete ...

Re: broken mod, in so many ways Jump to post
that is very odd. since you installed oblivion in C:\Betheseda\Oblivion security on program files and UAC should not have been an issue. Even odder that it tried to default into installing into the oblivion folder, it shouldn't do that.

have you upgraded or reinstalled windows since you originally ...

Re: So, what exactly goes wrong with the installation and UAC? Jump to post
There are two possible issues.
1. With windows 64bit, there is Program Files (x86). Installers are really bad at handling the (x86) part of the file path. MS implemented it in a real clunky way. and really, it was absolutely unnecessary to begin with, there is no reason you cannot install both 32bit ...

Re: Oblivion.exe is not being created in Nehrim folder Jump to post
64 bit

The directory for oblivion is C:\Program Files (x86)\Oblivion

I have two guesses here:
1. Installers are REALLY really bad at handling the () part of the file path. MS implemented it in a real bad hodge podgy way. and really, it was absolutely unnecessary to begin with, there is no reason ...

Re: Oblivion.exe is not being created in Nehrim folder Jump to post
Using Win 7. I am admin and UAC is on. The thing is I installed Oblivion into a new directory and not the default folder that the GOTY version creates during the installation process. I did think about the possibility of the Nehrim installer not picking up on the right folder, but I have no idea ...
