Can someone please explain how the leveling and skills work in the mod? how to use the learning,crafting and memory points??

On the meditation part how exactly do you use it? I know that hitting z takes me to this alternate place but all I can do is see some skills and their tiers but nothing ells, how do I unlock them?

As the title says when I check my skills it shows numbers and symbols for most of them as you can see in the screenshot

Is this intended or was there a mistake in my installation?
