Just want to check that I am doing the right thing before logging a ticket. Everything I have read has said that the Clatter Cave is simply a matter of shooting the lock on the door. I have done that and nothing happens. I have used both the old bow and other bows I picked up in game. I killed the Kobold, I have killed all the rats.... Is there somewhere special to stand? Frustrating as I have spent an hour or more trying to figure it out....

Please help
Did you get a pop-up message updating your quest? Check your quest log and see what it says.

And you have gone around to the back side to take the shot correct? I take it that is what you mean by you have killed the "kobold" (Goblin), right? I can't tell if you are in the correct spot by your description. You probably are though given you said you killed the rats. In case not: you need to take the passage around until you can spot the locked door from the back side. That is where you need to be shooting from. It's a distance shot. I just replayed it from an old save and when you hit and break the lock with the arrow you will receive a message updating the quest. I don't know what else to tell you really. As long as you are in the correct spot (shooting at the back side of the door) you should be able to hit it eventually. Look for puffs of wood chips (presumably) when the arrow strikes the door and aim higher or lower accordingly. You do have to aim high btw. There is a drop in the arrows flight. One last thing - Is there a chance you shot and killed the Goblin and he fell in such a way that his dead body is now blocking the lock? Because that would prevent you from being able to break the lock with the arrow as all of your arrows would simply be buried in his dead body instead.
Thanks and yes I am definitely in the right spot and been shooting at that door lock and getting it a million times. I guess it is a bug. I will report it. Thanks!
Did you only hit the door, or did you hit exactly the lock?
Hi.

This might sound a stupid question, but must ask. You are doing this through the quest ?
Have been in cave without quest and then could not shoot lock on door.
Definitely hitting the lock and definitely in the quest :) Infuuuuriating
Just so I can better understand - how do you know you are "definitely hitting the lock?"
Isn't it the door handle/pull ring?

Well I don't know tbh but how could you tell from that distance anyway? The thing you are shooting at looks like a fairly small darker dot on the door from that distance. Is your marksman skill already at 50+ to where you can zoom in on an object? How far from the door are you when you are shooting (approximately)? You are up in the loft area and are shooting across the storage area at the door correct? Do you ever see puffs of woodchips (something) from your arrow hitting the door? Something does not seem right here. When I replayed that section the other day, I hit the lock with my second shot and immediately got a pop-up message updating he quest and telling me what to do next. If you were "definitely hitting the lock" then you should receive the same message. Since you think you have hit the lock have you gone around and tried to open the door then? If you have broken the lock then the door should now open for you.

I am going to go load that again and try it once more because it seems crazy that you are having so much trouble.
yep i am stupid! Got it after shooting off the correct spot. Thanks guys!
