Oblivion: Steam Version
I'm running Oblivion through Steam and as I recently bought and downloaded it in the past couple months as well as steam automatically updates my games, it should be fully patched.
I followed the instructions in the readme, installed Nehrim, and then zipped up my oblivion folder to back it up. Afterwards I emptied the oblivion folder in steamapps/common, deleting everything there, and then pasted the contents of the Nehrim folder (not the Nehrim folder itself) into steamapps/common/oblivion.
I ran the Nehrim Launcher, clicked data files, and saw only three data files listed in the order, "Nehrim.esm, NehrimData.esp, NehrimEnglish.esp." I activated them all, clicked accept, and then started the game. My screen flashes a couple times as if the game is going to load and then I get this Steam Error.
"The game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time."
I've tried resetting the .ini, and loading Steam into offline mode. I've googled solutions, and I've gone through the forums here, but I'm having no luck. Has anyone else run into this issue or can propose a fix?

I am also running on steam and I got it to work successfully. What is did is the following:
1. Backed up my heavily modded Oblivion data folder
2. Restored my vanilla Oblivion data folder (I had a copy on my hard drive).
3. Ran Nehrim installer with default options.
4. I did NOT delete my oblivion folder, I copied all files from the newly created directory to the oblivon folder in steamapps/common and overwrote all conflicts.
5. Used OBMM to activate Nehrim.esm, NehrimData.esp, and NehrimEnglish.esp and esp files.
6. Launch Oblivion as normal.
I'm thinking that you shouldn't have deleted your oblivion folder and instead overwrote the files. There are probably steam specific files in the folder that need to stay there. However I am on Windows XP 32 bit so your situation may be different. Good luck, it is worth the effort to get this running.
