I think I have some sort of glitch, the game is WAY dark even with all my brightness/gamma settings turned up. My nose can be touching a wall, I will have my torch lit, and I wont be able to see that there is, indeed, a wall 1mm from my face. This is making the starting dungeon impossible to finish, as I cant see where to go at all. I have passed up huge obvious doors and hallways because they are pitch black and just blend into everything else. Anyone have any suggestions?
Disable HDR in the launcher and/or download the nvidia fix from your favorite Oblivion modding site.
tried both, the fix made the game not start up, and turning off HDR did nothing.
EDIT: it seems to be the wood texture that comprises 90% of the dungeon so far. Everything else looks ok, but the wood texture looks too dark to see where i am going

Try turning off all the additional graphic options in the Journal (within the inventory).
Delete or rename the oblivion.ini and let Nehrim generate a new one. (Without any tweaks for the moment.)
Install current gfx drivers.
Nehrim has dark dungeons and a couple are very dark, but not all of them should be that dark - especially at the beginning.
