Do you have any mods installed?
If yes, which?
Disable or uninstall it and test it again.
If that and also the instructions from Stuemper do not work, upload a Savegame here.
Can be found at: "% USERPROFILE% \ Documents \ My Games \ Skyrim \ Save".
(Please no Autosave or Quicksave, but manually saved)
Good would be a Savegame just before and after the problem.
So we can try to find a solution.

I'm unable to load pre-ritual savegame, I always overwrite previous saves....

the "fog" surrounding you is a different colour (on the other hand, that could also be the lighting),
and you're a good deal farther in the mainquest.
is that effect following you for days?

That you do not have an older Savegame is a great pity. In the future:
Save a lot and do it manually too.

You have a disease and an inexplicable bonus to elementalism among active spells.

Of your 7 mods, I do not see a direct connection, but it is still possible that they damage your savegame.
Whether this is still to be saved, I can not tell you on the fast.

The effect that was applied to your character has nothing to do with the effect that gets applied during the mainquest.
To be honest, I have no clue what effect this is.
Mya suggestion would be to load an earlier save game and replay. If the effect gets stuck on you character again, make sure you catch the moment, so you can tell us on which occasion it happens.
