and i just took a pyrean gear to the dude in the foreign quarter. but now the door is locked and i cant get out of the building.

That is a known issue. We do not know by which AI it is caused. Walk to the door. Open the console. Click on the door. Type in:

unlock

and press enter. Close the console. You should be able to walk out

I have found that saving the game after walking through the door keeps the door from locking if that helps you troubleshoot the problem at all.
