Hi,

I've recently started playing this mod for the first time and have been thoroughly enjoying it so far.

Up until now, the mod has been running smooth for me with no stuttering or crashing, but I keep getting CTDs out of the blue when walking around the Ark marketplace or foreign quarter, sometimes even when loading into the mentioned areas.

The game still runs smooth even when in the Ark areas themselves so I'm not sure what's causing it to crash. This is a fresh install of Skyrim on this PC with no mods aside from the vivid ENB. I've followed some other general advice including setting my shadows to medium and enabling all the multi threading options and while they certainly make the game run smooth, it doesn't help with the aforementioned CTDs.

My specs are:

RX480 8GB
i5 2500k@3.30ghz
8GB RAM

those areas are occasionally reportet as a bit crash-happy, but this...
your game and launcher are on the latest patch?

try deactivating the ENB and activate ENBoost instead (is both at the same time possible? I have no experience with ENBs),
see if that changes anything (probably not :/ )

also, please attach a manual save (no quick- or autosave) - found in
Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves - we need two files, the *.ess and the *.skse;
pack them as a rar-, or zipfile or something

My game and launcher are on the latest patch.

I wish I could get the vivid ENB and ENBooster to work at the same time but that seems to require having "ExpandSystemMemoryX64" set to 'true' in the enblocal.ini file which makes the mod a bit unstable for me.

However, while disabling the ENB does improve performance a bit, it doesn't stop the crashing...

I ran around in Ark for a bit - a lot longer than I usually do, and the game didn't crash once
(for the record - I have a pretty weak system, glad it runs Enderal at all)
and you're probably not standing there, or walking in circles for hours at a time.

sadly I'm not entirely sure what to do with that information

your savegame does not seem corrupted (that's good)
on the other hand, I have (right now) not the faintest idea what could cause these crashes, sorry.

hopefully someone has some better ideas

I can confirm that zoning into the Ark Marketplace is a little unstable for me too in the 1.1.9.0 version of Enderal. I am not running an ENB or ENBoost yet and the only mods I am using are iHUD and moreHUD.

I simply get into the habit of F5 quick save just before travelling through any gateway into the Market and do not find it is an issue.

The major problem is the way the engine handles the RAM and VRAM. Also there is a lot going on at the market place. We already optimized a lot in Ark to reduce the crashing.

Also it heavily depends on which settings you play. If everything is maxed out on ultra, Enderal is going to crash every 30 minutes.
Reducing the shadow quality or the draw distance gives you more performance.

You could try setting up ENBoost (without graphical changes, they would interfere). It should reduce the amount of crashing a lot.

Thanks for the advice.

I've already tweaked my settings as recommended to make the game run as smooth as possible, but like Daniel said the Ark areas can be a tad unstable on occasion.

I wouldn't say that my game crashes too often in the Ark areas, maybe around 20% of the time, so it's not a deal breaker but it's just a shame about the constraints of the Skyrim engine...

We can only recommend using the signposts in Ark to fast travel around the City
