1. Do you have to agree with everything your companion believes to progress? Do you have to romance them to progress the quest chain?

2. Where's the guy that gives the egg hunt quest? Wiki says the gate, but not the west one I guess.
I don't know anything to 1, sorry.

To 2: Afaik, you will find that guy before you reach the bridges leading to the west gate. Sometimes he is sitting there, sometimes he is walking around a bit, he is a very small man.
You don't need to agree with your companions, they will simply like you less. The storywriter said here that you can still finish the game in that case.
If you managed to be mean to both of them (or just didn't romace either) feel free to post a spoiler what the ending looked like. I would like to know what happens then, I just can't bring myself to try.

Oh I didn't even know the MQ depended on them so much. What if someone straight up doesn't do them? Will you be forced at some point?

Yes.

The mainquest has two subquests that focus on Jasper and Calia, respectively.

I wouldn't say you are forced to do the companion quests. The respective questlines will even fail and end if Jespar or Calia dislikes you enough. So the mainquest itself doesn't necessarily depend on them.

You still would need to get the stones, wouldn't you?

With companion quests I meant "Two Souls" and "Every Day like the Last", not Jespar's and Calia's parts in the mainquest.
