I get its health down to nothing, and it does not die, it disappears and then starts all over again.

I have done this half a dozen times, and it is becoming a game-breaking bug.

As much as I hate to cheat, is there a console command that will allow me to progress, or do I have to give up and quit the game?

Thanks

Your aim is to expose this Photophobic Creature to the light. It can be gained in two ways:

- lure the Creature to the stream of light (it might be quite difficult as Narathzul keeps trying to kill him and the beam is active only a few seconds, but, on the other hand, the Creature respawns so quickly that it is actually possible to lure it, especially when you aggro it first, not Narathzul).

- wait until Narathzul fights with the Creature in the area of the beam and try activating the Switch all the time until it hurts the Creature.

Kill the Creature

When you 'hurt' the Creature with the beam of light it starts burning all the time (you can notice the Creature is in flames). Narathzul will inform you that now it is time to finish the Creature off. The Creature becomes more susceptible to your attacks. You can see it's health bar draining with your and Narathzul's attacks. This time if its hitpoints drop, it will actually die.
I did read the walkthrough, looking for a solution, before I posted my question.

The problem is, that it did not work.

Anyway, I used setstage to advance. I did not want to cheat, but there was no other solution.
Too bad it did not help. As you didn't mention anything about the walkthrough, the light switch or the Photophobic Creature changing its appearance, I thought my suggestion might be helpful.

As the beam of light in the room will disappear after a while, it will be necessary to press the switch again. The Photophobic Creature will be dark or have an aura of white and red sparks/lightning before it walks into the light beam. As soon as this happens, it will have an aura of flames instead. Did you get its health down to zero when the Creature was burning, when it had the aura of flames - and it still got up/appeared again?! Or did the Creature never start to burn, even when it walked into the light beam? Did you play with version 1.5.0.8?

I was not able to recreate the bug with my savegames, so if you can specify what happened to you, I could add it as a possible bug to the Wiki article.

My apologies for not replying sooner.

I got the creature to be in flames, and would attack it until it's health status bar was red.

I believe that the amount of damage I was doing to it would have killed it, but just before I could deal what I believe would be the final blow, it disappeared and then reappeared elsewhere.

I was using English version 1.5.0.8, yes.

Anyway, I completed the game by using the console, which I dislike because it is cheating. However, it was the only way. And, I also had to use additem later to get the Soul Flayer sword, since merely doing setstage does not add it.

Other than this issue, and some other technical problems, I enjoyed the game, finishing at level 47.

It is unfortunate there will be no further updates. With a little more work, I believe Nehrim could be quite good.
