RE: Hunting
Post by CD7744 »
I checked the board and saw a brief response to hunting but it did not answer my question. I have bought a few of the books (take skin, heart and teeth) yet so far the only thing the animals have dropped is meat and skins. Along with buying the books I did spend the LP to get it listed in my diary. I understand that some animals (spiders) do not have skins and might not drop hearts. I am currently level 9 and just puttering around in the first couple areas and my question is at what point or level do animals start dropping other items than skins. Do I need a special tool and that's why no hearts?

Just wanted to add that I appreciate your efforts, this is a real treat for an old school rpg'er.

Hi,
Just to answer at least one of your questions- no, you do not need special tools.

I guess it depends on the species of the animal. Not every animal drops heart, skins etc.
But it's just my gess. Frankly speaking, I haven't given it much attention yet.

Seems like mostly monster-type enemies drop hearts. Like some demon-types and such. Anyway, you won't find hearts in standard animals.

Hi.

Wild creatures do not drop everything. Young Boars you are likely to see heart, teeth, meat, skin. Others just meat or skin. Some drop nothing i.e lynx and mountain lion.

A heart is only interesting if it comes from a magic creature. A animal heart ist better than a piece of meat ;p
Animals that are known for furs drop fur (bear, wolf), animals with big claws/teeth drop that, and some with horns drop horns.
Depends on the animal only, wolves generally drop meat, fur, claws, 2 teeth, which is quite a lot already. Deer will never drop anything extra, not even antlers.

Ok thanks for the replies. I was wondering if I was missing something.
