I'm running a GTX275, Phenom II X3 720 2.8ghz, 4gb ram.
My system was able to run the original Oblivion with high graphics mods, viewing distance, all of that, very well. Even with antialiasing (2x I believe).

Nehrim however, runs VERY slow for me. I'm getting 20-25fps at most, and a lot of the time 10-15 fps. I'm at a point in the game now where suddenly it's dropping to about 5fps. The game is pretty much unplayable.

The strange thing is, I turned off antialiasing, I've tried turning off the viewing distance, I've turned off shadows, I can't figure out what option would be causing this much of a problem.
I must not be the only person experiencing this... help?

I have some performances probleme too :
In landscape, the probleme is grass and tree detail view range, i put grass to 40 an tree detail 70
In big city (erothin), the probleme is number of object i put object range view to 70 and it's good
in drak forest, the probleme is view distance i put global view range to 10, tree detail 0 and i had rush to treomar (because it's was always little laggy and i didn't saw ennemy)
In battle with many NPC (5-6 or more) I ddon't know what is the probleme i had wait end of battle without fight near cabahet because we have friend

In native oblivion i have sometime performance probleme but it's lower and i havn't down graphical view

And you didn't see real difference in range vision, when you put tree detail/object/grass/actor to 80-90 but that increase performances
Wait are these options in the launcher or in actual Oblivion? Or is this in the .ini or something?
Hi
I'm running a GTX275, Phenom II X3 720 2.8ghz, 4gb ram.
I'm running 2 x 9800gt sli'd, phenom II (4 cores unlocked) , 4gb ram. I'm getting an average of 40fps (everything set to high).
The game can slow down in parts The Dark Forest FPS almost dies (check forum for solution, there is a consul code), it is a known bug.
A few tips that might help, although you might have allready done them.

1 - Ensure most upto date drivers (there is a beta driver just released if you want to try. It helped by a couple of fps).
2 - Textures ingame eat a lot of video ram. In some areas I've seen High texture settings take 500mb +. So turn texture settings down if GPU does not have high ammount of memory.
3 - Use optimizations of preload memory etc.

Hope this helps a little.
I'm getting TERRIBLE performance (10 FPS in Erothin on Low settings, shadows off) with a Quad Core, 8 gigs RAM, and Radeon HD 5770. It has to be a software issue because I can't even hear my computer trying, no fans are at high, nothing. My PC acts like I'm running an Excel spreadsheet meaning the mod isn't using my hardware.

That is weird. I have maybe half the machine you do. I run things and though I am not using the HIGHEST graphics settings I am using the second best. I have HDR turned on, I have most of the buttons clicked for rendering, relections and some shadows. Except for the rare stuttering when I am running from loaded area to another loaded area it runs like a dream. Runs better than Oblivion in fact.

I have messed with the .ini settings to increase some performance...*shrug* I would think if it was the mod itself that the majority would have the same issues. Not to say there aren't places that the performance can't be improved. :)

What is most interesting:
I am only at the abby, so I can only check that area. There are places there, where my fps is around 17 no matter what settings I use.

I fired up my Rivatuner to find out what causes this bottleneck. The result: nothing!!

GPU is at 40-50% (depending on shadow, AA settings: this is why graphic settings didn't matter for me. I could turn everything up and still stay below 70%)
CPU1 is at ~70%
CPU2 is at ~75%
Mem usage is ~1.5G (preset in launcher)

No loading happening (I am standing for about 30 seconds).

These readings are the same at the 17fps abbey tunnel, and at the 40fps forest section.

Specs: C2D E8200 (@3,4), 4850 (512M), 2G

BTW: this is my first comment, so I need to tell: this game should have been Oblivion! Best RPG in the past dunno how many years...
SureAI, thanks for your hard works if you read this!

Hi

What texture settings are you using. High texture will eat up 512M in some areas.
If you want to check. In consul type (without quotes) "Setdebugtext 13" enter. Then type (without quotes) "tdt".
Press tilde to leave consul, so you can run around. You will now see on left debug info. Texture mem will show how much memory GPU is using. Top right FPS.

Game can slow down in some areas. Depends on a variety of reasons. Hardware and software.

Another tip you can try, is set process priority (in task manager) to above normal. If you set it to high or real time it may affect cd/dvd drive a little. Setting a higher priority can/may improve FPS

Have the same issue. Have a 5870 and a q6600 oced to 3.6ghz with 4GBs of ram. I have horrible performance just about everywhere. The mod is only using about 30% of my GPU and then only about 50% of my CPU. My ram usage shows 72% and the texture memory gets to be around 500mb which shouldn't be a problem since the 5870 has a gig of video ram.

Thanks TheHawk for the tip
vidmem is only 180M so far though, so everythings seems okay.

So what explains the slowdowns then?
