Map offset fix?
Post by crpgnut »
Can anyone confirm whether the map offset is going to be fixed in 1.0.8? I'm talking about the player cursor on the world map being off by a bit, making it confusing to know where you're at exactly on the world map. I've also noticed that occasionally the player cursor is gone completely. I think that may have been a problem in vanilla Oblivion too though. I'll be standing on a road and the player cursor will be an inch off in the woods somewhere.

No wonder I am always wandering around like an idiot! LOL

Really, this game is fantastic..I can not believe the detail. Weirdly enough (since machines typically hate me and please dont let this curse me) I have not had ANY issues with crashing, bugs yet (but I havent actually done alot other than walk about) it all installed fine as did the OBSE, Wrye and the CS. Its been a dream for me so far!

I do have one small complaint.

I..hate..the..local..map

I tried to use the trick to color it a bit like in OB but it didnt work.

I have a serious lack of directional skills and am used to a pretty fabulous map in Oblivion. I cant tell anything from the local map.

Any chance someone is gonna pretty that up while you all also work on the fix?

I think the coloured lokal map shuold work...

The cursor is not exact, but the difference is only a few millimeter. I dont think that they will fix this.

I don't know about the offset (haven't noticed it ever), but as for the player marker disappearing:
Unofficial Oblivion Patch notes wrote:
Bug: You can't see the player marker and other markers on the local map
Solution: If a mod alters ANYTHING at all in the cell of (3,3) in any worldspace it will cause this bug to happen; if a mod is causing this bug for you the best thing you can do is go through your mods and disable them one by one until you find the culprit and report this information to the author of the mod. Also this bug can happen when going through certain cells, but it's only temporary; no mods cause this one and there is no way to fix it either.
This doesn't really seem solvable.

well I used the ini change to color the map..i believe...and its still the same color. Perhaps you know how I can fix it. I must be a terrible noob. I can see the paths usually but....

Its just helpful when its colored.

Does your oblivion.ini contains following line?
blocalmapshader=0

Also, there is a mod for Nehrim that adds a minimap to the main view. You don't have to press tab to get your bearings with this wonderful, wonderful mod :)

I hope that you're wrong. Good enough, is really not a solution if you want to look professional. It makes an otherwise great mod, look amateurish.

I wouldn't agree with that..if its a built in Oblivion issue that they can not rectify.

@Androktone
No I have 1 at the end of the line. I believe I said I changed it? :|

However I am gonna reset the ini back to the default and do it all again to see if that helps.

EDIT: It works now...a bit better..helps me make out the smaller paths better. Thanks everyone
