I have read the book that mentions a group of mages that possibly created the curse. I have searched the entire forest and have no found any information. Does this exist? Is it not implemented yet? I found a mine and family crypt.

The ruined city to the west of dark forest was destrotyed, as explained through rhe main quest... i'm just quessing the group of mages would be the mage trio, the mo'fo king, merzul (was it?) and the imprisoned artherna mage who founded the order...
