Arktwend - Stuck on Stormwend thieves guild quest - by nigelvibations

This game is *fantastic*, but I've gotten stuck on a quest for the thieves guild and am unable to figure it out:

[+]: Buttered up the mercenary in the marketplace and he wants me to get him wine. I bought a bunch of wine, but he keeps telling me to buzz off and get wine. Quest journal says "Maybe I can get him something else from the market", and "something else" links to a journal entry about me drinking a glass of wine and passing out. So I bought one of each potion/drink available in and around the market, but he keeps saying he wants wine. What do I need to give him instead?

Any help on how to get past this would be greatly appreciated!

It's actually awesome to not have a walkthrough I can google, feels like I'm playing Zork or something.

[+]: One of the merchants in the market sells a bottle of insect killer. Try that.
