i wandered up to cahbaet just to explore and it is rather early in the game yet.the gate is locked ,so is there a way in or do i have to wait until a certain point in the game to get in?what about other major cities,can i get into any of them at any point in the game?

cahbaet is quest related, you get to sneak in later during the main quest. then after that part is finished the gate is unlocked.
