Hi All

I have really enjoyed Nehrim so far but this quest highlights the failings of Oblivion and why the game engine was dropped. Moving those barrels is impossible. You cannot grab them, if you try and push them you either catapult them into a corner or slide over the top. Silly! Or am I missing a secret solution to this little nightmare?

In the old p&p dungeon and dragon days my freeze spell would have combated the fire quite nicely..easy solution.

Been a while since I did that quest, but, I just used z to grab and move. It is not all the barrels you are moving, so some you cannot move. Just watch the green quest marker or map to see which ones.

When you say "cannot" do you mean you literally can't crab them or that it is just an incredible pain in the ass and difficult to control them when you do? If it is the latter, I completely agree. However, if it is the former and you literally can't pick them up then something is wrong. Have you remapped your keys so the Z key is no longer set to "grab?" If not, are you holding the key down whilst you are attempting to move? I do not want to insult you here as it sounds like you have played Oblivion also and have a good grasp (no pun intended) of things but you do realize that the grab key must be depressed while trying to move objects, correct? I always remap some of the less well positioned keys myself. I made "F" the grab key and it becomes much easier to manipulate the correct series of keys after some practice. It's still a pain in the ass but it does make things easier.

Easy way to do it is to throw them into the corner with telekinesis, which seems like it would be dangerous but whatever.

That said, it still took me four or five attempts the first time through, and when I finally did it I had to use the console because one of the barrels fell through the floor. Really annoying.

Many thanks for your responses, much appreciated. I did have the Z key assigned to grab and it appeared to do nothing. Maybe it was the panic caused by the tight timescale in the game, complete immersion or what, however I remapped the grab key to my mouse and could still not pick up the barrels, yet the same key allowed cast spell or jump?? I reallocated the R key to grab and bingo it worked. So either a weird setup or complete break down of coordination at my end.

Problem solved.
