I 'talked' to Regina; she motioned me towards the grate, it told me to go tlak tot he fence, and the fence has nothing to tell me, just training to give.
What do I do?

I was able to solve that one with telekinesis without visiting the fence ... Glad I didn't break anything.

I tried this using telekinesis. I can select the item, but I am having trouble "picking" it up. What is the proper way to retrieve the key with telekinesis?

If you move it around it will slide up the side of the pit until you can pick it up. You might have to shift where you are standing.
