i dunno about anyone else but every time i get hit with an attack (melee or otherwise) my frame rate stutters dramatically for about 2 seconds. i get good performance in most areas even on higher settings. i've tried taking everything down to bare minimum but it keeps happening.

anyone else had this and been able to resolve it?

Dark Forest? => Disable Distant Land (per menu or per console: "tll") while you are in the Dark Forest.
Elsewhere? => If you have an onboard sound chip, lower effect sounds to 0 in the Nehrim sound settings. Or install a "quiet feet" mod, but I don't remember where it can be found.

On the subject of the quiet feet mod, I tried version 2.0 of this mod and nehrim wouldn't launch until I unticked from the list of files in the launcher.

So can you post a link to the nexus page of the version of the QF mod that's working for you..?
