I must be missing something fairly obvious, but I cant' seem to spot it...

I've been told I've leveled-up, or need to level up. I visit my journal, but I don't see what or where I'm supposed to be interacting with any sort of point distribution system.

Someone want to inform me what I'm overlooking?

Never mind. Maybe it's just unclear in the English version. The Journal is the entire function of the menu that opens, as set by your controls, so that you can select your Journal, but the actual level up is done by an Inventory Item, found in the journal, like a scrap of paper, called the Journal, too..

So, I found it.

A bit confusing.

I cannot level up. When I click on the diary I receive a message that I cannot use it yet. I finished the Critical Discharge quest in Arcane Sanctum. Do I need to wait for additional quests? With my level 1, I am starting to be a little bit weak against higher level opponents.

Console: "set startglobal to 1" and DO download the new patches, they fix more stuff as well.

It worked. Of course after I had to deal with some dyslexia...typing set to startglobal 1 instead of set startglobal to 1.
