I have a few queries, hope you can help. How do I use the rune stones. Do I just "eat" them. What do they do. I have some negative points on endurance and intelligence, how can I get rid of them. I'm sure early in the game someone was selling restore spells but on revisiting all the early salespeople no-one has anything to sell.

If it is a teleport rune(1 or 2 in the game), click and the spell is added to your spells. If it is a spell rune, click and it will be added to your spells only if you have enough of a level to use it.
Damaged stats from getting a disease, use a "cure disease" potion or find a mandrake root.

Rune stones teach spells.

Negative effects can be removed by curing the disease (if it is a disease) or restoration scrolls. Various vendors sell them.
