(yeah, this looks like a better place for this so..)
Well basically, i feel like oblivion's skill system is rotten, nehrim remedy this fine by teachers, however the mastery boons are still the same.. by this i mean the Novice > Aprrentice > journeyman > Expert > Master level boons. Lets take sword/blunt/marksman and say athletics/acrobatics/sneak (i could help figure out new boons for every one if this idea interests people/is dooable)
Basically, i wan't to have more incentive to reach these masteries than what there currently is... as of now, melee users only get power attacks, which is fine... but they look dull and at times i wonder if, aside from a 1hit ko/preemtive strime, i would be better off using just normal blows.. so what about this: (might need to incorporate a script editor to the launcher for it to work?)
Blunt:
Novice (same as current, allows normal stationary power blow)
Apprentice: (directional power blows, that is sidewise = unarm, backwards = knockdown, forward = paralyze, but much lower effect % chance.
Journeyman: Adds a FX to powerblows, like a transparent slightly colored swing FX, this is to signify an increase in the % chance of apprentice boons happening,
also reduces fatigue cost of attacks
Expert: decrease recovery time after power blows, also makes powerblows do x4 dmg over x3 dmg. (i think it does atm, just a 25% inc) New sound FX to sound more powerfull
Master: New attack FX again, maybe something akin to flames? not too imposing though, just a visual treat. Increased attack speed overall maybe 10-15% increase % chance of directional boon occuring. stationary power attack now has a chance of blasting people away, dealing increased damage to primary target and physical fall damage to targets blown away (midas magic using such a spell in its force ball)
Blade:
(idk, anyone want to come with any ideas here? thats dooable?)
Marksman:
Novice same as before, does no longer require fatigue, draw speed = slower than current normal
Apprentice Able to zoom, arrows held for longer than 5 secs get a flatter trajectory, but maybe bow begin to shake after some extended time?
Journeyman charged arrows can now penetrate the initial target, charged arrows get a slight FX? maybe a wind distortion effect spiraling?
Expert Faster draw speed (now slightly faster than normal) arrows become 'charged' after a shorter amount of time, shaking time not changed. arrows now fly faster.
Master Fastest draw speed (noticably faster than normal) arrows require only a second to be charged, can penetrate more than two mobs, bow will now not shake after holding a arrow charged.
I have ideas for pretty much most non magic skills, since magic is... magic, buffing them means buffing spells available... Anyone agree? yay? nay? i realize it would be a lot of work though but.. its a consept, can be done a lot simpler, my primary idea is to make masteries offer new more exiting boons.
