I know that early in the game I came across someone selling ponies for something like 3000 gold. Now I have plenty of money and have a lot of traveling to do, and I can't for the life of me find her again. I searched every town my map had discovered on it, and nothing. Maybe someone can help... remind me?

does the donkey have a backpack or something to carry items? is it different from the horse?

Nope, Its just cheaper, less health and slower. 500 verses 3000 gold.

The donkey should be essential, horses not.

Would be nice to have a donkey carry extra loot, and a horse to carry you.

The idea of a saddlebag mod came up last week or so in the German section in a discussion about making the horse more important / widely used.
The main question was how to implement this in a fool-proof way, there are enough Horse bugs already.
Ah, using with vanilla resources only. (read no OBSE)
And definitely no more activation idea that require the use of brain-floss...
