Question about the orden and Callisto - by Identi

Hello everyone, I am grateful for this modification, and I completed it with pleasure.
But I have a few questions that I couldn't understand:
1) Why did Callisto, being of such a high rank in the Order, behave this way with Kim in Ostian? He revealed himself to the guards during a meeting with Nikki, when everything could have passed quietly and unnoticed. Also, out of resentment, he took time to prepare, but in the end he was completely offended and refused to carry out the mission. He placed a huge responsibility on two members of the order who could fail such a task without proper leadership. Because of him, the entire operation in Ostian could have failed.
2)Why do the Ostian guards always know where the main characters will be, and how did Jagal know exactly how the heroes will go back? And why was Callisto hiding there?
Without knowing the answers to these questions, I can assume that Callisto is a traitor, because in the Monastery he was a sensible old man, but in Ostian he behaved very strangely, like an offended teenager

hi, welcome to the forum 
there probably won't be any definitive answers, only theories, and your read of "Callisto was a traitor" sounds actually really nice,
so i think i'm stealing that.
to me it always seemed like Callisto led the Order for a really long time and when Arantheal took over,
he wasn't very happy about that - because he's old and stubborn.
and he took that out on us.
that still doesn't really explain 2), so maybe Callisto really kept telling the guards/Jagal where to find us - knowing that we would get rid of them?
(also, keep in mind that there are in theory guards everywhere, they're just not shown because that would tank the fps
)

Did Callisto rule for a long time? If I understand correctly, he received his license after Merzul's death.
When Arantheal came to the monastery, it also seemed to me from the announcer’s voice that Callisto was not happy
But you get the point, twice the operation in Ostian was in doubt because of Callisto. It would seem that he himself should be very interested in success.

As urst already wrote, there will be no clear explanation here and is left to the player's feelings and imagination.
It reminds me a bit of Enderal and the Calisto led the Order with Merzul after Narathzul Arantheal was locked away for a long time (It wasn't a real leadership role until the end of Mezul,
but I think they both had a lot to say). Now he is entrusted with such tasks together with absolute newcomers.
He may not be a willful traitor to the Order, but arrogance and misjudgment are very damaging to the cause, despite his experience in magical matters.
As for the guards, I see it similarly to urst, the rulers at Ostian certainly have a pretty perfect network of spies.

A very strong mod that leaves a pleasant aftertaste. I haven't thought about the plot and characters this much in a long time.

I don't think he was a traitor. He sacrifices himself in the end, after all. And he never seemed anything but devoted to Arantheal and the cause. He was just a stubborn, cranky old man set in his ways. I thought it was quite the perceptive characterisation - we all know some old men like that, who suddenly start behaving like teenagers again when they don't feel properly respected. And, to be fair, Kim was also partially at fault there - we've been working for the order for who knows how long and all of a sudden, in the belly of the beast, during a highly sensitive undercover mission, you get second thoughts and question not only your leader's authority, but the cause we are fighting for itself? Imagine trying that in a real-life revolutionary commando - she would have been strung up pretty quickly. In general, the conflict between the two of them was very believable and one of my favourite parts of the writing - I wish it had come earlier in the story, but that's more of an issue with the plot's structure as a whole.
