I ONLY have SkyrimVR, which is an extension of Skyrim SE.
I can download Enderal SE on steam, but when I got to play it won't run as it claims I don't have the correct edition. (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition An error while launching this game: no licenses)

Is there a way to handle this? Is there any case for Enderal SE being updated to check for either SkyrimVR OR SE edition? (Assuming that complies from a legal standpoint)

As you have probably read, it is necessary to own Skyrim SE in order to play Enderal SE.
This has to do with Bethesda's licence rights to their engines.
Enderal (both the classic and the SE version) are treated like mods by Steam (they are total conversions...).

It is known that you can still download Enderal SE even if you don't own Skyrim SE on Steam. However, this is a technical matter on the part of Steam over which we have no influence. Unfortunately, as in your case, when you try to install the game you get the message "no licence".

Ownership of Skyrim VR is not intended by Bethesda as a prerequisite. So legally there is nothing you can do.

If you want to play Enderal SE, you have to buy a legal version of Skyrim SE (this also applies to the GOG version).

While you have to own Skyrim SE to play flastscreen Enderal SE, you should be able to play Enderal in VR as a mod to Skyrim VR. You would be copying Enderal SE files to your Skyrim VR data folder and launching though Skyrim VR on Steam, and not though Enderal. There is a mod on the Nexus that should help with Enderal VR.

This thread is a bit older, but if you dig it up again, keep the following in mind.
The Enderal-VR mod is not from SureAI and that Enderal-VR is also based on an older Enderal-SE version.
It is therefore possible that one or the other bug may occur that has already been fixed without VR.
