After dealing with having to delete the two .ini files to get the game past the skyrim main menu I am hit with yet another road block.
After the tedious process of character creation the game ends up crashing as soon as I go down the stairs after Sirius to fight the two ship crew. Loading the save brings it back only to instantly CTD.

The only mods I have are some basic compatible hud mods such as immersiveHUD and MoreHUD

Disable / uninstall your mods. I can't say if these mods work properly, we don't support mods.

Check your installation with Steam.

Could you upload a savegame?
You found it in ...\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves, we'll need the -.skse and the -.ess of a manual (no quick- or auto-) save
