After coming out of my first Pit fight in the Undercity, I was attacked by a few pit fighters who were subsequently taken care of by the guards, so although that was strange, it was not too serious. But when I got to the barracks area, the drummer pulled out his sword and began attacking me, and he was invincible and could not be killed.

The problem wasn't fixed too long ago, but maybe one of your mods is against it and restores the old problem.
(This bug could also hang in the save) Unfortunately we can't support mods, that's what the creators have to do.

But you can give us a savegame, that we could test without mods.
You can find them under : %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My games\Enderal
They always consist of 2 files, one -.ess and one -.skse file.

Maybe I didn't clearly ask even if, then we'd also need a save before the cause.

And if your spells have all been changed like your armor bonus, I'm not really surprised that problems arise.
Which mod triggers this problem I can't answer, unfortunately.

Even though you can use cheat to reset bounties, that's not the solution in the long run. So I can't use this save to permanently repair anything your mods do.

I have tried to play a game from earlier on before the pit fight, and the problem of the invincible drummer still exists, so it is not an issue with the pit fight itself, that is just when I noticed the issue.

And it is not spells only. I cannot interact with the drummer at all. I cannot speak to him. I cannot damage him with spells. I cannot damage him with weapons. Spells and weapons travel straight through him and hit people behind him. I also cannot pickpocket him. I de-activated all mods (except for the Enderal: Forgotten Stories mod) and tried a save from when I entered Ark for the very first time. I used the signpost to travel directly to the Undercity barracks. I tried attacking the drummer with no mods active and the problem still persists. This is why I don't think it's a mod problem, but I have attached a much earlier game from before the time I visited the Undercity barracks with the drummer

the drummers are supposed to "ignore" you - otherwise they would have issues if you'd bumb into them

the attacker should be fixable:

1) weed out your mods.
they're the most probable reason something went wrong in the first place.

some general tips besides "please don't use mods":

- "Enderal Factions" seems like a likely culprit,
- "Enderal FS Enable Wait No Heal" and "Enderal Fast Travel EV" are in general dangerous, especially if you never played before
- same for anything scriptheavy and mods not made (or updated) for Enderal - Forgotten Stories

- UI - Mods (like iHUD or racemenu) should be okay

easier would be to just reload an earlier save (still without mods )

I encountered the same issue today. (Haven't been to the fighting pits yet, haven't used any magic in the game yet either beside teleportation scrolls.)

Could mods I installed for Skyrim/Skyrim SE affect Enderal if I never added them for this game, and don't see them to in the Data Files section of the launch screen? (No mods, attached a screenshot)
I see SkyUI is active within the game... though I remember that needed to be installed differently than others, and is tied to SKSE.

(I can't do a resetAI on him after he attacks, as he is not "targetable" from then on.)

the advice given by urst back then is either outdated or maybe never really worked. (what a moron)

- look for a city guard
- open the console and select him
- type paycrimegold 0, 0 (or "0,0" or "0 0". all off those should do the same)
- head back to the drummer
- he won't attack you

this doesn't really explain why he is even attacking you, this bug was fixed more than a year ago.
did you start your playthrough long ago (possibly angering the drummer) and picked it up recently?
(or do you just never update the game?)

That did the trick

I have no clue what the cause could be. Enderal is set to auto-update, and I've only started this character in August. I've never even been to any towns or cities until yesterday. (Haven't really played since August, and even then I only did a few early sidequests in the wilderness.)

As long as it works from here on, it doesn't really matter what the cause was if it has been fixed and tested last year.

Edit: I think I managed to figure out the reason:
I brawled with Silia Foxhand in The False Dog, and I probably hit someone else as well during the fight.
