I just recently installed the mod pack, exactly the way I was instructed. But whenever an NPC is talking I can barely hear them when my crosshair is 'on' the NPC speaking, or when they are directly behind me. They only speak clearly when they are off to the side.

maybe there's something wrong with your speakers/headphones
(/wires/driver)

fps > 60 lead to some strange audio and graphical glitches, could be that?
so limit your fps via driver, FPS limiter or ENBoost to 60.
(it will help in any case, and the engine doesn't support higher framerates anyway )

you could also try to delete the two *.ini from ...\Documents\My Games\Skyrim
and restart the game (it will create a new one on launch)
(I somewhat doubt that this will do something though :/ )

if it doesn't, could you upload a savegame?
found in ...\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves, we'll need the skse and the ess of a manual (no quick- or auto-) save
pack them to a rar or zip archive and attach them to a post here

the full launcher.log might also be useful could you attach that too? it's located in ...\Skyrim\Enderallauncher\system\log

Strangely enough, when I deleted the .ini files, it completely broke the enderal installation. So I had to uninstall and then reinstall it. Waiting to try it out again

hm, I checked yoursave and the sound seems fine on my end.

- I used headphones (which I usually don't), and yes,
voices from directly in front or behind you are a bit quieter than from the side, but not barely audible.
(and it sounds like that's the case on your end, right?)

- when playing without headphones there's hardly any audible difference

Sorry. Yes, in literally everything else with sound on my PC there is absolutely no issues. And the log from the launcher would have shown that the vsync is on, and my monitor is a 60fps, so it does limit it to that.

are you playing with headphones or without?
maybe you need to change this setting

I didn't see anything about vsync.
what word would I need to look for, "vsync" doesn't show up

you probably meant to write 60hz monitor? (since 60fps monitors don't exist)
if it's compatible with vsync the 60fps problem shouldn't be one, yeah

There's not a setting for headphones or not, because that's on the PC's side, not the game's side. And as I said, there's no other sign of any sound issues.

I have looked through the threads, and they do definitely talk about the bug you are experiencing, which is *very probably* an issue with surround sound of your headphones.

You have to understand - assuming you actually bother to read this - that Enderal is a game based on Skyrim. Thus, certain weird bugs that appear are not always the fault of the Enderal devs, but rather an issue with the way the driver / software of your headphones refuses to get along with the base game Skyrim. That it did not happen with Skyrim itself is neither here nor there - such is the nature of bugs. I have personally experienced what you are describing on my old notebook and solved it by tinkering with the surround settings of my headphones (logitech).

So, until you give those threads a read, and try out the solutions named there - and then discount them one by one here - we cannot suggest anything else. Simply because solving bugs means often a trial and error approach, expecially if noone else has experienced this issue with Enderal. As your save does not include any mods, and your log does not provide anwers either, we - and by default you - have to look at the issue in a broader scope. The issue is well known with Skyrim and surround sound on headphones. If you do not believe us, you are welcome to google this.

TDLR - please read the threads in detail, give the solutions there a try, and let us know if it worked or not. Until you do, no other ideas from our side will be provided.
