I had a crash whilst playing today that caused an application load error to occur every time I tried to start the game and attempted to fix it The thing that screwed everything even worse was attempting to verify the integrity of the files on steam. Now my enderal saves load me into a tavern in Riverwood in Skyrim with no weapons or armor.
I have found this topic https://forum.sureai.net/viewtopic.php?t=11272 and I understand that I can change installation in the launcher and re-install the game and that should work *but* my question is that if I use this method, will my save files be lost? And if so, what folder directory would they be in/can I rescue them?
TLDR: Will change installation and reinstall delete my saves and if so, how can I back them up?

your saves should be save;
but back them up, to be on the save (heh) side.
they're located in ...\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves

Your save folder won't be touched.
