Not during a specific quest or anything already covered in topics I could find.

The game just occasionally freezes. No ctd, just a freeze and I have to hard boot my computer to get out of it. The freezing isn't even triggered by anything I can see. It's not just when I open a menu or transition- sometimes it happens then, but sometimes it freezes when I'm just walking along. Making the game unplayable and really frustrating. Any help very appreciated. Thanks

Running on a clean steam install of Skyrim (no mods) and an updated version of Enderal (updated 3/18).

can you play Skyrim without issues?
all I've found about something like that points to outdated drivers - or hardware problems.
(maybe look at that thread)

you hopefully did not try to verify the game cache - that will kill Enderal.
only other thing that comes to mind would be ENBoost -
wich works apparently fine with Enderal although I've never tried it

You are unable to start the task manager and end the application (ctrl-alt-delete)?

Yeah, Skyrim runs fine and my sys specs are more than is required for the vanilla game.

Nope, task master won't pull up. Nothing I do will get my out of the frozen screen other than a hard boot.

Will make sure my gfx card is up to date with drivers, but it probably already is.

Game plays a variable of 5 to 20 minutes before a freeze.

Oh and I didn't try to verify game cache.

Edit: Says my gfx drivers are up to date.

hm, shot in the dark here, but maybe try deleting the two *.ini files in
Documents\My Games\Skyrim

(shouldn't be hardware at least, if Skyrim is running fine )

That is strange. Could you check if your hardware is dying while playing Enderal? Leave the ressource monitor open and check if something is noticible.
Also check which programs run in the background.

how about other games than Skyrim, more taxing ones?
could help narrowing down the issue;
if it's really just Enderal, or something hardware related

maybe run a virus / malware scan
(yeah, I'm out of ideas)

as silly as it sounds, maybe the fan /vents /anything else just needs cleaning

So far it's just been Skyrim, but I haven't played any majorly graphics-intensive games recently.

I'll clean the fans etc. and see if that makes a difference.

I'll leave the resource monitor open, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for tbh

May tune down the graphics too, but I hate to do that as Enderal is an absolutely gorgeous game.

another thing, just to be sure it's not Windows related:
working/ playing other games/ doing anything else besides playing Enderal doesn't cause freezes, right?
