Owing to my PC consisting of rubber-bands and chewing gum, and the hamster being tired, I changed my graphics settings to reduce lag.
I set them to i) only shew me enemies who are about to hit me, ij) shew me the object i have just tripped over, AND
iij) shew me MINIMAL GRASS.

Now I seem to have newly mown lawns everywhere. (Admittedly this might be because where i am (Heartlands & Farmers' coast), they've removed the sheep to the upper/lower pastures.)

Normally, when i kill bandits/highwaypeople i have to hunt about to find any bodies, but now, apparently, they will Be Obvious.

Is this a cheat? (It feels like it).

I don't know what you mean with the i, ij, iij settings?
You've probably reduced the draw distance of the grass, it is normal that it disappears at one point. Why should that be a cheat? Or I'm misunderstanding your post.
